15.5 miles today. Total miles so far: 127.
I woke up early, saw it was raining, and went back to bed. Once the rain stopped, I tried to get my chain smoking motel neighbor to take me the 1.5 miles back to the trail for $10, but she was on her way to work. I took a gravel snowmobile trail back to the trail instead of the official Ice Age spur to avoid wet feet in the rain soaked grass. The day started with a road walk, but once back on trail, I took lots of breaks to rest my feet and appreciate the sights. I met a local hiker who regularly hikes the sections near his home, and he shared his favorite break spots. I took a longer break at the Murphy Flowage Park to filter water and charge my phone. And it was there I witnessed a tragic event. Two earnest Golden Retrievers at the park. So, so excited to play ball. "Where's the ball? Find the ball!"
